About the blog
When I completed an internship in 2009/2010 in South Africa, the blog was the first address for my friends to find out: Is he still untouched or was he already mugged and/or killed? He: That is Ali Himpenmacher, who’s earning a master’s degree in African Studies and has worked with the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation, to be more precise, the KAF’s Media Programme Sub-Sahara Africa. The internship wasn’t even close to conservative but really, really cool.
After my return from Johannesburg (a.k.a. the coolest city in the world), I didn’t finished the blog, since there’s much more to write about. The focus is still on South Africa but sometimes I write about other African countries, or about Germany (e.g. German media).
At the very beginning, the blog’s slogan was Once you go black you can never go back. This idea was given by Hannah, a fellow student, who said that every person who goes to Africa once only loses his/her heart to the continent. She was right.
